About
Since being elected to council in 2004 I have worked closely with the community. I organized litigation against the minister for Planning over the CUB site at Chippendale and we have achieved an improved environmental and urban amenity result. I introduced policy changes to council that led to the creation of a LGBTI Liaison Officer, a disability access committee and a disability access staff member and scores of on street parking spaces for car share companies. Further policy amendments led to council’s decision to switch to 100% Green power and ensured that the Reg Murphy Centre in Elizabeth Bay was not sold off but remained in public hands for the benefit of the community. During my first term as a councillor I served as Deputy Lord Mayor.
As the Greens candidate for Lord Mayor I commit to continued vigilance on over-development to protect residential amenity, the introduction of world class energy, water and bio-diversity initiatives, an increased share of council resources on community projects and a fair go for the thousands of small businesses in our council area. I’ll also make sure that you can talk to me when you need my help.
